Padel Tennis... what's all the fuss?

Padel tennis has recently exploded onto the Dubai scene thanks to the thriving social scene and expatriate culture. The sport was invented in Acapulco Mexico by Enrique Corcuera in 1969 and combines action with fun and social interaction. It’s a great sport for players of all ages and skills as it is not dominated by strength, technique, and serve. Padel is a mix of tennis and squash and is usually played in doubles on an enclosed court surrounded by glass walls. The ball is allowed to bounce off any wall but can only hit the turf once before being returned. Points can be scored when the ball bounces twice in the competitor’s field. Unlike tennis, the service is made underarm.

Due to the large amount of courts available across Dubai, makes it a very accessible sport to all... which as physios we love!

Fun Facts:

The racquets don't have a string.

The service is underarm.

It's more popular than tennis in Spain.
